Mangalitsa Lard Pound Cake

Inspired by Chris Shepherd, I made a Mangalitsa lard pound cake. I used this recipe, but substituted 1 cup of lard for the 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup margarine.

It is a very tasty cake. It was very easy to make - a lot less work than the Oreo-like cookies.

Mangalitsa Lard Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Mangalitsa lard
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for pan
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
